The Marine Corps offers you a rewarding way to pursue your education while receiving financial aid for college. Tuition assistance is just one of many ways they help Marines earn a college degree.

Whether you plan to continue in the Marine Corps or transition into a civilian career, you can receive an education both in the Marine Corps and in the classroom that will help you in either area.

The Marines offers a variety of financial aid for college, which you can pursue both during and after your service. Read on for more information about the college money available to you.

Interested in a graduate degree? The Marine Corps offers masters degrees and law degrees.

What Is the Marine Corps Tuition Assistance (TA) Program?

The TA program allows service members in the Marine Corps to receive up to 100% of their college tuition and related fees covered. These fees include lab fees, instructional fees, enrollment fees and instructional fees.

How Much College Aid Can You Receive?

As in all areas of the Armed Forces, you can receive up to 100% of your tuition paid for by the Marine Corps. This college money cannot be more than $4,500 per fiscal year, and $250 per semester credit hour.

Where Can You Pursue Your College Degree?

The Marine Corps TA program covers a variety of post-secondary education opportunities at accredited schools; this can be a certificate program at a career college or a masters degree program at a 4-year college or university.

What Are Additional Educational Benefits of Joining the Marine Corps?

While the tuition assistance program is limited to tuition and certain fees, there are other forms of college financial aid offered by the Marine Corps. Through the Montgomery GI Bill and the Marine Corps College Fund, you can earn even more money for college.

The College Degree Program offers a 2-year option and a 4-year option at selected colleges and universities, which covers tuition as well as textbooks and uniforms.

Marine Corps Tuition Tips & Tactics

  • The key to maximizing your money for college is combining various programs. In addition to combining the tuition assistance program with other forms of aid offered by the Marine Corps, you can also qualify for federal aid in the form of grants and college loans. Apply for federal aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. While college loans do need to be repaid, federal loans tend to offer the lowest interest rates. If you choose to pursue private loans, take the time to compare student loans to find the lowest interest rates.
  • Contact a Marine Corps recruiter through the US Marine Corps website to learn more about how they can help you earn a college education.
  • Interested in a graduate degree? The Marine Corps offers masters degrees and law degrees through their Advanced Degree Program, Special Education Program and Funded Law Program. These programs are all partially funded by the Marine Corps. You can learn more about these programs at MarineOfficer.com.
