Consider one of these schools if the word “Crocs” makes you cringe and VOGUE is like your bible.

These schools not only have fashion design programs, they're also pretty trendy campuses and some have cool abroad programs in Paris and Milan.

If you’re super into fashion, you may not want to attend a school where 80 percent of the population wears fleece hoodies and sweatpants. At these nine schools, you’ll not only get to study fashion; you’ll also get to be in an environment where your gold designer skinnies don’t have friends asking why you’re dressed for the runway. It’s called fashion, people – now it’s time to make it work!

1. Parsons The New School for Design

The New School is a total haven for hipsters and the renowned design school Parsons is by far their most fashionable sector. They have top-notch programs in fashion design studies and marketing, and alums include Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang just to name a few. Are you impressed yet?

2. Kent State University

North Canton, OH may not exactly be the trendiest city in America, but Kent State makes up for that by allowing their fashion students to also study in New York City, Paris and Milan. You’ll hardly be in a fashion vacuum while on campus, either – the school has a fashion museum and a fashion library (that’s right, a fashion library) to keep you in the know.

3. Rhode Island School of Design

Known for its renowned design programs and uber trendy student body, RISD is a great place to study apparel design, jewelry and metalsmithing, and textiles. Oh, and TO EMBARESSING COLLEGE MASCOTS their mascot is a giant scrotum, so…there’s that.

4. Fashion Institute of Technology

This school’s sole focus is fashion, and there’s a wide array of programs to choose from, including accessories design, fabric styling, menswear and jewelry design. The museum at FIT brings in tons of impressive fashion-related exhibitions, and you can’t beat the school’s trendy Manhattan location. It’s like we always say: if a school was good enough for Calvin Klein and Michael Kors, then it’s good enough for us.

5. Otis College of Art and Design

Otis has an awesome mentorship program that connects fashion design majors with top designers, and living in L.A. gives students access to fashion opportunities in the entertainment world. You could be Lady Gaga’s next stylist (if you’re an incredibly brave individual, that is.)

6. University of California at Irvine

If you’re more interested in being surrounded by fashion than actually studying it, consider UC Irvine. Irvine was named the most fashionable city in the U.S. by Bundle, who noted that the city ranked almost four times above the national average for money spent on clothes. and the school has a Fashion Interest Group that puts on annual shows for charity.

7. Academy of Art University

The Academy of Art was the first school to have a show at fashion week, they have an awesome fashion blog, and their Northern California location in the fashion-forward San Francisco is right on trend. The design school has courses for seven career paths: Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Styling, Merchandising and Visual Merchandising. 8. Savannah College of Art and Design

Dean Michael Fink, who used to be Sax Fifth Avenue’s fashion director, has brought a lot of impressive faculty and industry involvement to the fashion program at 607180, SCAD. Speakers and mentors that he’s attracted include André Leon Talley, Vera Wang, and Miuccia Prada. Are you nerding out yet?

9. Drexel University

Philadelphia may make you think of cheese steaks and long lines to see the Liberty Bell, but the city’s very own Drexel is a serious hub for studying fashion. Students spend six months in a co-op program that provides them with hands-on experience, and many spend their sophomore year studying abroad at the London College of Fashion. Oh, and there are still cheese steaks to be had. Just because you’re into fashion doesn’t mean you can’t properly tackle a sandwich.

Now that you know the fashionable spots to attend college, you should plan your back to school wardrobe accordingly (so you have enough time to adequately plan your outfits for orientation week) -- just a suggestion.
