Minority Scholarships

  • Gates Millennium Scholarships

Award: Up to Full Tuition

Overview: Given annually by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Gates Millennium Scholarship is a renewable “good through graduation” scholarship for minority students.

Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are US Citizens, Nationals or Permanent Residents who are African American, Asian Pacific Islander American, Hispanic American or Native American/Alaskan Native. Applicants must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility and plan to enroll at an accredited institution of higher learning. Students must demonstrate leadership through extra-curricular activities and community service.

  • Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarships

Award: Up to $7,500 per year

Overview: The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship is a four-year scholarship for minority students given in the hope that students will become dedicated leaders with a commitment to public service and humanitarianism.

Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are US Citizens who are minority students graduating from high school. A minimum 1000 combined math and critical reading score on the SAT or combined 22 ACT score is required with plans to enroll at an accredited four-year university. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, as well as leadership and a dedication to community service.

  • Actuarial Diversity Scholarship

Award: $1,000 to $3,000

Overview: The Actuarial Diversity Scholarship is for African American, Hispanic and Native North American students interested in becoming an actuary or pursuing actuarial science.

Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are minority students with a 3.0 minimum GPA, plans to enroll full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university and intent on pursuing a career in an actuarial profession.   • Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation

Award: $30,000

Overview: Harry S. Truman Scholarship recipients are college students seeking to enter a graduate program and begin a career in the public service. The scholarship is incredibly competitive, but very rewarding and recipients are often given priority at certain graduate programs and are offered an internship in Washington, D.C.

Requirements/Eligibility: Eligible applicants are US Citizens with at least junior-level status toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applicants are intent on pursuing a graduate degree in some form of public service, law, education, or public policy. Candidates must be nominated by their school and have a strong record of community service and academic achievement.
