Social media has made it easier than ever to find a job. While driving around and dropping off applications or cold-calling employers used to be the only way to find work, the Internet can now help you stay one step ahead of the game.

If you just don’t know how to find a job, many of the social media sites listed above offer resume writing services, specialized services for students and veterans, and other career services.

Use social media to find jobs through networking

Employers are more likely to hire a candidate if that candidate is referred to the employer. Social media sites are a great way to find jobs because your presence comes with a built-in network.

Facebook, for example, may not have a strong presence of employers posting listings. But you can ask Facebook friends if they know of any job openings or whether they work for a company that is hiring. You can also restrict your post to only local friends if you’re looking for a job you don’t have to move for.

LinkedIn is another website that focuses solely on professional networking. You can search for and connect with old or current classmates, friends or colleagues, and you can list your own work experience. You might find you have an inside connection at a company, or at the very least, the opportunity to be recommended at a potential workplace.

Use social media to find job listings

Job search engines like Career Builder and Monster post thousands of job listings and update constantly. Employers directly post jobs to the job search engines and can look for and contact applicants in a much more direct way than networking sites. If your own network is still too small, social media sites like these are bound to have something appealing.

Since these websites are specifically tailored for employers and job hunters to meet, having a well-written, up-to-date resume is important. Cover letters and references are also very helpful, as employers may contact you requesting any and all of these things.

You can also use Twitter to find jobs. TweetMyJobs is a free service that will send updates on job listings you might be qualified for directly to your Twitter account.

Use social media to improve job-seeking skills

If you just don’t know how to find a job, many of the social media sites listed above offer resume writing services, specialized services for students and veterans, and other career services. You can also find articles written on a variety of career-related topics aimed at teaching job seekers tips and tricks to help them on their search. Keep in mind, however, that many of these resources are only available if you pay for them. For free resources, visit the related articles below. Que son las cafeteras de capsulas
