Overall

I am a mother of three, and have had previous experience with a secondary education school. In 2010 I attended a technology center and after one year received my medical assistant degree only to learn that there truly was not any jobs in the medical department. At the time of attending my previous school, I had a 4 year old, 7 year old and 8 year old. My 8 year old is disable. I had an instructor actually tell me that my life was not that hectic. Graduated from the course, and moved to Ohio and decided that I was going back to school and going to presume my dream of being an RN. This is what I have dreamt about doing since I was a child. By far, Rio Grande has been amazing. The instructors are there to help you succeed as long as you are willing to put forth the effort. I LOVE this College, and think the world of all my current professors. Not once do I feel like I am just a number, or just someone paying their light bill. It has been a great experience thus far, and I can only see it staying this great.

Academics

Right now, I am taking generals for the RN Associates Program. I attend the McArthur Center, where class is only one time a week for approximately 16 weeks. Lots of work is given, but you also only have to attend one class a week. However if you would like shorter and more frequent classes, the main campus does offer them. Personally with having three young children, it is a lot easier to go to class twice a week for three classes rather than five days a week for three classes. Lots of Comp essays, lots of math homework, and lots of sociology chapter reading when only doing one class a week. But if you are determined you want a degree and ANY major, no matter the length of the class you will succeed. You must be willing to put forth the effort, to get the success!

College Life

There are a lot of clubs, and activities that occur on main campus, however we do try to help families for the holidays at this site. With being a smaller branch of Rio, and being in a poor county, a lot of students who are attending the McArthur Center can not afford the gas or own a vehicle to be able to get to the main campus. We as students do try to raise food drives and toys for tots in our way of helping the community out or even a fellow student. Right now we are holding a Thanksgiving Dinner food drive, and on November 22, 2013 we will be giving one family everything they need to prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner, with hopes that enough items are donated and we can extend our one family Thanksgiving Dinner to two or three family Thanksgiving Dinners. Rio offers Movie night at the main campus at a discounted rate for students, and the Rio Campus police are always pleasant when passing and helpful for those who are not know their way around the main campus. netosfera.1blogs.es

Overall

Rio Grande is a great place to get an Art degree for many reasons, the Professors are great, the Annex has everything you need to create art. There is nothing missing from this experience it is great.

Academics

Class size is small and you get personal attention even if you don't want it. There is an air of learning that I have not found on other campuses. The professors are intelligent and willing to help with what ever it is you need..

College Life

The campus is in a very small town so there is not much to the night life you have to go to Gallipolis or over to West Virginia. There is a lot of basketball, soccer and track to keep you busy the gym is open for other activities.
