About SPU

Seattle Pacific University began its history in the late 19th century as the Seattle Seminary. A member of the Christian College Consortium, SPU maintains its roots in the Free Methodist Church while catering to the diverse needs of its student body.

Seattle Pacific’s extensive academics include over 50 undergraduate programs, from Christian theology to food and nutritional sciences. At SPU, you can also design your own major. This program is mainly intended for particularly driven students interested in interdisciplinary study.

The university’s graduate school offers nearly 20 programs, many of which are geared toward education, psychology, and theology. Among these is the unique Master of Education in Literacy, which focuses exclusively on the mastery and teaching of reading.

SPU supports its students with abundant financial aid. Many of the institutional scholarships are based on academics, but there are also ministry service, performing arts, and athletic scholarships available.

Student life at Seattle Pacific includes several student organizations and programs. For example, the Center for Career and Calling exists to help students organize their career aspirations after school. The school has four residential halls, as well as apartment-style housing, so there are plenty of options for on-campus living.

Student at This School - Grad Year 2015

Overall Rating

what i like most about this school is the class sizes. On average there is about twenty students per class, which allows each student to interact in class with their professors and, each other. I love the campus dinning services however, if you are a commuter like me there is also a commuter lounge with fireplace, comfy sofas, computers, and a kitchen all free.Overall, Spu provides everything you need to succeed here.

Student at This School - Grad Year 2015

Overall Rating

This is a fun campus with lots of activity going on. There are some awesome opportunities in which to get involved, such as playing Intramurals or serving the community by getting involved in the Urban Development department. We have our own radio station-- KSPU, where students can DJ, etc. Overall, at this university you will have the opportunity to get to know your professors, which is a really cool thing! The teachers here genuinely care about us and really want us to achieve our goals. They're really great about giving us time to talk outside of class about class material or really anything.
