About Lehigh University

One of the northeast’s respected private schools Lehigh University in West Bethlehem, Pennsylvania offers a thriving research-based, academically rigorous community as well as an innovative approach to student life.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees are awarded through the college of Arts and Sciences, the school of Business and Economics, the school of Education and a College of Engineering and Applied science.

Research is one of the defining elements of a Lehigh education. Students and faculty work at one of Lehigh’s numerous institutes, conducting research in such disparate fields as Nanotechnology, Education, Biopharmaceutical Sciences, Jewish Studies and Real Estate.

Students are also given the opportunity to carry their academic and other interests into their living situation. Themed housing at Lehigh gives students the option of living in communities dedicated to specific activities, disciplines or ideologies. There is, for example, a community for Music students, a community for those who wish to promote and live a “green” lifestyle and a community for students who wish to gain leadership skills.

Other student life highlights include a strong creative arts community and a number of student clubs and organizations.

Admission to Lehigh is competitive, with applicants being held to a high standard of academic performance.

Financial aid is available to qualifying students through numerous sources.

Alumnus - Grad Year 2001

Overall Rating

I loved Lehigh's campus and my fellow students. Attending football games was great, especially Lehigh/Lafayette. Off-campus Bethlehem certainly left something to be desired so I often found myself traveling to NY or Philly to get away for a weekend. I was not in a fraternity, but still felt welcome at many Greek events. Living off-campus was OK, but driving up to class was hard due to the heavy parking restrictions on campus.

Overall Rating

This school prepares you for the real world. They do not baby you here, as in other universities. More often than not, there is no attendance grade. It's your choice to go to class, just like it's your choice to go to work. The university is very helpful when it comes to career advice as well. There are plenty of opportunities for entry level jobs and internships. You just have to have enough gumption to take advantage of all the opportunities. It's all what you make it. And I am proud to call myself a terp!
