Student Ratings

Alumnus - Grad Year 2011

Academics Rating

Vanderbilt was really good about keeping class sizes small enough so the professors could have the opportunity to give each student attention. I think the only excpetion maybe to this rule were the sciences, but in every other department, you could get the personal attention you may need. The workload is massive, though, and there is definitely pressure on campus to succeed.

Former Student - Last Attended 1996

Academics Rating

Nashville is a great city to explore and there is always a lot going on socially for any student, but you've got to get your work done.....and there's a lot of work to do. Every class will keep you busy with plenty of reading, group work, and a rigorous testing schedule. Both teachers and students are fully engaged. If you are not equally engaged and committed to scholarly pursuits in addition to an active social life, you will find the school extremely difficult.
