The classes at this school were very engaging. The school also provides a lot of activities and the facilities are up to date and accessible.

Overall

Providence, Rhode Island is a great place to go to school. You get the amenities of a city with the ability to walk from end to end of town. Brown is tucked into a neighborhood and as a student you feel like you are part of the local community. The student body size is perfect. The student body is large enough that you can always meet new people and small enough that you always see people you know.

Academics

The academics are world class. If you get admitted you can handle the difficulty of the work. Compared to some of its peer institutions, the balance between the graduate and undergraduate student populations affords better opportunities for undergraduates to get involved in research.

College Life

The diversity of the student body is a curse and a blessing. As a student you will be exposed to individuals from all corners of the country and the world. Those students will expose you to cultures and ideas that put your culture and beliefs in context. That diversity can also lead to student body segmentation. Let's face it, people like to associate with like-minded people.

Overall

I liked the people. The student body includes some of the smartest people I've ever met, and many remain friends to this day.Stay on campus. You have the rest of your life to live off campus. Explore downtown Providence and all the neighborhoods that surround the University.

Academics

The computer science department was very good. The science & engineering classes I took were large -- at least compared to my high school. I did not seek one-on-one help from TAs or professors, though I probably should have.

College Life

I had fun on an outing or two with the orienteering club. Rowing is, of course, top-notch. Football is not. The fraternities were required to let anyone attend their parties, which was nice. If you like that sort of thing.

Overall

Brown Rocks! Super fun city, with a great student body and top notch academics. Brown fits the reputation of "hard to get in to, but easy once you're there". However this attracts a very cool and adventurous/curious type of student which makes for interesting classes and fellow students. Gafas de sol de madera Savana yellow Sand

Academics

A huge selection of classes and majors. In fact you can design your own classes and your own majors! Brown fits the reputation of "hard to get in to, but easy once you're there". Being able to take every class "pass/fail" definitely allows for an easier way through tough classes.Double majors are very common and reasonable to achieve.

College Life

Brown is an awesome school for fun and games. Lots of parties, though at only 6000 or so students, it becomes a pretty small scene after 4 years. However Providence is a very cool city with tons of college kids and cultural life is definitely getting better.

Overall

Overall, Brown was an amazing experience for me. The open-curriculum made it possible for me to completely shape my academic experience there, something I could not have done elsewhere. Although I highly recommend it, the open curriculum is not for everyone. Students who know what they want, are self-motivated, and excel on their own are the most likely to benefit from such a program.

Academics

Compared to other schools, Brown's professors are more hands-off. They certainly give you extra attention if you need it, but the general philosophy is that the students are capable on their own. This type of teaching is not for everyone as some people need more direction than others. Like all things at Brown, however, there are more than enough resources available for those that want them. It's all about what you want and how hard you're willing to work for it. The same can be said about the work load and class sizes. Everyone has a lot of say in what they want their Brown experience to be like.

College Life

Brown athletics play almost no role in shaping community at Brown. Most students at Brown are involved with at least one, if not multiple student organizations/clubs. In other words, there's plenty of clubs to choose from and like anything at Brown, you can create your own if you want. The social atmosphere was pretty diverse and laid back. You can find parties if you want to do that. You can find people to hang out with at home if you want.
