About NewSchool of Architecture and Design

At The New School of Architecture in San Diego, California, students may get hands-on and theoretical training that combines tradition with innovation. Facilities are comprehensive and even offer personal learning facilities for each student.

Whether getting a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management or one of the several other available programs, students engage in a study of traditional architectural methods as well as cutting-edge design.

The New School also offers master’s degrees as well as a summer-study program.

An ideal location for the school, San Diego itself embodies this cross-section of traditional and innovative architectural expression. Since the program combines study with application of techniques, students study the local architecture and, in hands-on activities, replicate and build on observed concepts and designs.

Facilities at The New School are comprehensive and include a variety of laboratories, including individually assigned labs to which students have personal 24-hour access.

Student activities are designed to capitalize on classroom learning and include several professional student organizations and associations.

Admission to undergraduate programs is based on an applicant’s academic performance and history as well as their commitment to architectural study. Admission to graduate programs requires submission of a portfolio.

Financial aid is designed to make programs accessible to as many students as possible and is awarded through loans and other sources to those who meet eligibility requirements.
