Overall

U of M is overall a great school. Most resources are very convenient. The dining resources are good, although a good amount of the employees are extremely rude when speaking to a customer/student. There is one particular employee that doesn't look at the customer/student most of the time and speaks to them in a rude manner (if they speak to them at all).

Academics

Academics are fair. Most teachers show up to class every day. Some only show up half the time. The workload is sometimes extreme. and the class sizes are generally average size (30 count), although some of the students do not attend class as much as they need to. My economics teacher, although a nice person, is Indian and I have a difficult time understanding his dialect. Therefore, i am struggling in that class.

College Life

There is not much of a social atmosphere at U of M. Most students walk around with head phones in their ears or only speak to familiar people or people who live on campus. Safety-i would rate 7 out of 10. I only see security maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Athletics- i would rate 8 out of 10. There are not many weekend activities that I am aware of. When I actually find out about the activities, it is usually too late for me to attend the activities, due to poor advertizement.

Overall

The foreign language department is fantastic. I feel that every teacher in my language of study (Japanese) really cares about me and my peers. They hold events to encourage conversation practice and culture experience. Though I haven't experienced the study abroad program first-hand, I know that the campus offers many places to go for any language of study. Opportunities to study abroad are offered to more than just foreign language students as well. I experienced some trouble rooming my first semester as a freshman. I was not made aware the priority application deadline and was left waiting until last minute for a room assignment. Make sure you stay on top of your Res Life stuff. It's hard to get stuff corrected if a mistake is made. It's good to be an honors student because you get to register for classes before non-honors students, which is really nice when there are only two sections of the class you want to take, and only 40 seats per class.

Academics

The school has really useful facilities such as the Technology Hub which is open 24 hours and the Honors Hall equipped with computers and a student lounge. I really liked most of my professors. A select few I found boring or hard to understand.

College Life

The thing I dislike about this school is the lack of weekend activities. You have to go off campus to have something to do. Maybe they exist, but they're not advertised. Other than that, I do like the fact there there are many student organizations to choose from. If there's not one you would like to join, you and a few others can make your own. The campus is located in a dangerous city, but I have never felt threatened when on campus. There are emergency response stations called Blue Lights all throughout campus. Also, there is an escort service for students who don't want to walk to and from class at night. I can't speak for athletics since it's not my scene, but frequently see posters promoting different sporting events. Seguro Escolar - Asociación de Madres y Padres. Colegio Patrocinio de María
