About Purdue University, Calumet Campus

Purdue University in Calumet, Indiana, is part of the respected Purdue University system, one of the largest university systems in the United States. Academics at Purdue University’s Calumet campus include more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Academics also integrate experiential learning activities, which help students to apply classroom studies to the real world.

Purdue University’s Calumet campus houses more than seven schools and more than a dozen specialized divisions within these schools. Individual schools include the:

  • School of Education
  • School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • School of Nursing
  • School of Technology

There is also a separate Graduate School, which awards degrees in such fields as:

  • Communication Studies
  • Computer Science
  • English
  • Nursing

Purdue University’s academics include a substantial amount of real-world learning activities, which include:

  • Community service

College life activities are just as exciting as the school’s academic options. There are more than 70 student clubs and organizations, which include everything from religious groups to cultural associations to an improvisational theatre company. There are several student publications as well as regularly held social events. Calumet is also only 30 minutes from Chicago’s lively downtown area.

Purdue University’s financial aid offerings include approximately half a dozen tuition scholarships. These include scholarships for high school valedictorians, scholarships for students with an outstanding academic record and scholarships for students pursuing specific majors such as Engineering and Nursing. Loans and grants may also be available.

Undergraduate admissions applications are available on the Purdue website. Applicants will also need to submit transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. Graduate admissions requirements differ, depending on the department.

It is a very diversified campus that is great for local students. I work full time but the schedule of classes allow me to fit a couple of classes into my already packed schedule. They have great facilities and great technology that help you learn with industry current items. I enjoy my time here every time I have a class.

At this college my experience here has been nothing but good. I feel accepted here and also i feel as if i belong at this school. I have never felt that way anywhere before and its an amazing feeling to experience. The students are nice and respectful of other people and their cultures. The diversity in this school is so amazing i love hearing all the different languages and dialects as i am walking to class.
