About FPCC

Fort Peck Community College is a reservation-based community college in Poplar, Montana. Situated on the Fort Peck reservation, it offers members of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes professional and academic degree and certificate programs in a community that fosters cultural commitment and awareness.

Fort Peck awards associate’s degrees in such fields as:

  • Business Administration
  • Computer Programming
  • Education
  • Human Services

Students who wish to transfer to a four-year school may also obtain an academic degree in such subject as:

  • American Indian Studies
  • General Studies
  • Psychology

Intensive, one-year training programs are also available and prepare students for careers in:

  • Automotive Technology
  • Building Trades
  • Business Assisting
  • Truck Driving
  • Welding

In addition to professional skills, all classes also emphasize and nurture Indian heritage and culture.

Fort Peck has an open admissions policy and, while it will accept anyone with a high school diploma or GED, it is primarily committed to educating those from tribal communities. In addition to these requirements, applicants must take a placement exam.

Fort Peck only offers financial aid awards that do not need to be paid back. These include federal grants, work-study programs, a Bureau of Indian Affairs grant, and scholarships, such as the one from the American Indian College foundation. Fort Peck also provides veteran’s benefits and tuition waivers to certain populations, including senior citizens and recent GED recipients.
