About Bethany College

Bethany College sits on 1,300 acres in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, only 30 minutes from Ohio and 50 minutes from Pittsburgh. Students looking for a contemporary college based on a classic liberal arts foundation will find it at Bethany.

This school has rolling admissions, so students are not limited in when they can apply. However, as scholarships can be competitive, it is best to apply for financial aid as soon as possible. Bethany College offers several academic scholarships, many of which are renewable for all four years, and range between $2,000 and $13,000 per year. In order to be admitted to Bethany College, students should have a GPA around 3.5, along with a SAT score in the region of 1,045 and an ACT of 23.

The three most popular majors at Bethany College are Education, Communications and Psychology. The academic year at Bethany College is divided into two semesters, in addition to a four-week Interim Term in January. This school requires all students to complete a senior project and comprehensive examination before they can graduate.

On top of a superb education, students can have an active college life full of not only organizations and an abundant Greek life, but also has many diverse clubs, like the Equestrian Club, which offers competitive riding opportunities in Hunt Seat, Dressage and Western divisions.

Overall Rating

Bethany College is a very uneventful college. The students who are accepted are not of good quality academic or moral standing. There is a bar down the road where kids 18 or older come to drink 24/7. That is basically the only event or place to go on campus. They give the majority of their "academic scholarships" to males who play spots. For the money you pay here you do not get good quality of academics or student life. The college needs to use the money they have to update the academic resources, campus and their programs. The majority of freshmen leave after first semester. The sport programs are also under-developed. I came here under the impression I would spend 4 great years here, I'm a freshmen and I cannot wait to transfer as can other students. I would advisor you not to apply or come here, spend your money on a better college.
