Overall RatingOverall I think Cal is great school. They have an amazing financial aid package and take care of their students. I am a student-parent and the school, as well as the professors, have been extremely supportive of my situation. Cal has a student parent center, which is amazing! I really enjoy the school and the students and professors are incredibly smart, which can be intimidating sometimes, but it is well worth it as they keep my drive to do well high. Cal will definitely change you and your perception of the world. The education department (I am a Education Minor) really breaks you down in order to build you back up and shape you in a liberal way. The only draw back is that the school is extremely liberal, and sometimes while things sound great in theory they might not work in practice. Many professors live in a state that is so disconnected from "real" people that they fail to take this into account. Any how, the school definitely trains its students to be critical thinkers and to think brilliantly. It is also very diverse and open.

Overall RatingI like that the environment here is very different from where I'm from. Where I'm from most of my friends have similar backgrounds to me and grew up the same way I did. At Berkeley, I get to meet people from different backgrounds and learn their life story and it makes me appreciate how much I have.
