About STU

Diversity has always been an important part of student life at St. Thomas University (STU). The school was founded as a response to the Cuban government’s shutdown of the Universidad Católica de Santo Tomás de Villanueva, a Catholic institution in Havana. Students at STU today hail not just from the United States and Cuba, but also from more than 70 countries worldwide.

St. Thomas University offers academics through the following schools:

  • Biscayne College
  • School of Business
  • School of Law
  • School of Leadership Studies
  • School of Science, Technology & Engineering Management
  • School of Theology & Ministry

More than 50 programs of study are available, leading to a bachelor’s, master’s or juris doctor degree. St. Thomas also affords its graduate students the opportunity to pursue dual degrees; for example, law students might choose the JD/MBA track.

St. Thomas offers financial aid through a combination of institutional scholarships and federal grants and loans. Scholarships are based on merit and require the St. Thomas University Scholarship Application. Federal aid is need-based and requires the FAFSA for consideration.

Admissions procedures for STU vary based on the type of applicant. For more information, fill out the information request form on the university’s website.
