Student Ratings
Nathan North Student at This School - Grad Year 2015
Academics Rating When I first sat in a class at Clarkson, I was interested to see that the main teaching method was still a chalk board. In high school, my teachers and other faculty were so focused on progressive teaching and new ways to portray information that I was used to having smart boards in every room. What I've since realized though is that my school was so caught up in trying new methods that they forgot the actual information. At Clarkson, the information is everything. Every lecture is packed full of it. I leave each one wondering if there was any moment not spent processing new information. It's clearly not just the calk board though. The professors are eager to teach, and if you need a little extra help, they're there to give it to you. Even if they can't be there to help you, other students are always there to give you a boost whether it be tutoring, as a TA, or just a friendly suggestion.
Jeffrey Smith Student at This School - Grad Year 2014
Academics Rating There's a lot of hard classes, great programs for Math and Physics and responsive professors who'll help you learn. The class sizes are about 16:1 student to teacher ratio, with plenty of work to keep you busy most nights. The workload can be overwhelming because it is thrown at you in consistent waves, but once you get a handle on it, you know the material cold turkey. It can be hard at times, but if you have the drive to complete all the work to the best of your ability, the professors take notice, you take notice and you come out with a good understanding of the material you'll need to know to be successful in your career path. There is one other thing I should mention about careers. The professors at Clarkson have plenty of experience in their fields and are more than happy to give students tips and stories about what they've learned in years past, as well as some good connections to other alumni who can help guide you into your niche. It's a tight community and all the opportunities are there if you have the gumption to go and look for them.
