Overall

I love this school. I'm from out of state, Massachusetts to be specific, and I was genuinely shocked at the courtesy other students had. Being from Massachusetts, I dealt with a lot of rude people. It's different here. One of my first days up here, I noticed people were holding the door open for others, and not just when they were right behind them. Something like that just goes to show the character of the people here. You get to know everyone who works here. The people who work in the dining hall all are really nice, as are the employees in the bookstore. It's just a small campus, so you get to know a lot of people. The school does some activities, free ice skating, free rollerblading, movies every now and then, entertainment stuff, most of it is really fun to go to.

Academics

It's a small school, so you get to know your professors, and they're all incredibly willing to help students. My professors are almost always in their offices when they aren't teaching a class, and welcome students to walk-in. What I really like about the professors though, is when they don't know the answer to a question, they admit it. They don't make something up, they admit they don't know it and then research the answer and inform students the next time the class meets. It's all just a really friendly environment.General Education classes tend to have a larger number of students, but major-specific classes tend to be smaller. The workload isn't too bad if you can figure out what you need to do and what is just busy work. A lot of people over do what they need to and that takes away from the college experience. The good thing about the CJ program is you don't get a lot of that busy work, it's all relevant and necessary. The CJ program also has a lot of opportunities not made available by other colleges, such as hands-on work and networking with local police and sheriffs departments.

College Life

There are a lot of clubs for such a small school. My favorite is Outdoors Club. We play ultimate frisbee wednesday nights (not in the winter though) outside on one of the athletic fields. We go paintballing, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, it's all really fun. They play movies once or twice a month, usually new releases, so it's always good to see a movie for free. Campus Security are really nice and friendly, again, it's a small campus, so you get to know the people who work here.

Overall

When visiting Husson University, it was clear that faculty were strongly invested in helping students learn and grow; not only in their classes, but as a person too. It was encouraging to speak to very knowledgable and kind staff members. I did not have the opportunity to sit in on a class, but I did talk to some students, and try the food. One of the students I spoke with told me that she came to school dreading the college life, but was happy now because Husson allowed her to expand and be herself. The food was great too!

Academics

The professors seemed very knowledgable and encouraging. As a prospective student, I don't know much about the workload or specifics in classes, but I do know that because it is a small school, the classes aren't overwhelming large.

College Life

The social atmosphere was clearly a positive one. Everything is within a short walking distance, and the schools small, so it seemed that everyone knew each other whether it be personally or through a common friend. There are many sports options, though I am not an athlete so I did not explore these.
