About UAA
As the largest university in the state, University of Alaska Anchorage features a great number of academic and career programs as well as professional graduate schools.
Starting with vocational certificates UA trains students for such fields as Automotive Repair, Community Mental Health Services, Phlebotomy and Tech support. Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the spectrum, master’s and/or doctoral degrees are granted in such areas as Arctic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Creative Writing, Public Administration and Medicine.
In between the two, there are associate’s programs in various professional medical, technical and other fields and bachelor’s degrees awarded in a wide variety of subjects. Bachelor’s level academics include everything from Aviation Technology to Computer Science to Foreign Languages to Theatre.
Research has a vital presence on the UA campus, conducted by students and faculty at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in everything from Education to Medicine.
Stimulation is not just limited to the classroom and the lab. A student radio station, a speech and debate team, recreational clubs and other activities are all a part of UA’s student life.
When students are tired of stimulation and want to decompress and unwind there are plenty of opportunities to relax in nature. The city-wide nature trail, for example, links the campus to lush, scenic areas around Anchorage.
Tuition is significantly lower for Alaska residents, and for those who still require assistance there are a number of possibilities for financial aid to those who qualify.
Admission requirements differ according to one’s proposed degree level and program of study.

Overall RatingI like the teachers in my field who are knowledgeable and helpful. I am happy to be getting a degree in something I like and feel will be a fun career when I graduate. UAA helps me save money and still get the degree I want by living at home. A tip I would give you is keep to the books and go to class as you cant learn anything if you are not there in the first place. Try to imagine what it will be like when you graduate and are in the workforce, how is UAA going to help you if you don't put your best foot forward.We are the next leaders lets lead not take things for granted.

Overall RatingHonestly, I've enjoyed every single year that I have been attending UAA so far. It's been a roller coaster of classes, work schedules, and personal life, but I'm a firm believer that it is all worth it in the end. I've been in the same major since I started here, and every Geology class I attend, I love the school and topics more and more. My classmates have been about the same all throughout and have been a blast getting to know them and everyone else I have meet.
