About The Juilliard School

One of the most prestigious and competitive performing arts institutions in the United States, the Juilliard School in New York City graduates some of the world’s most successful and respected performing artists.

Juilliard’s academics consist of three divisions: Music, Dance and Theatre, with specific emphases offered within each division. Juilliard primarily awards master’s degrees. However, there is also an accelerated bachelor’s degree program and a one-year certificate program in some departments.

Additional offerings include a pre-college program for high school students as well as non-credit arts appreciation courses for New York City residents.

With a highly impressive list of alumni, Juilliard has graduated students who have gone on to win numerous Pulitzers and Tony, Emmy, Academy and Grammy awards.

Student life at Juilliard is an extension of its educational programs. Since the renowned Lincoln Center is a part of Juilliard, students have the opportunity to attend some of the world’s most exceptional musical and other performances.

Students also benefit from being in one of the most culturally and artistically vibrant cities in the world where they may visit such places as The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and numerous on and off-Broadway theatres.

Admission to Juilliard is highly competitive, with less than 10% of applicants accepted yearly. The most important criterion used for evaluating an applicant’s chances of acceptance is the audition, though previous academic performance is also important.

Tuition assistance is available to eligible students through standard financial aid offerings such as loans, grants and scholarships. There are also a limited number of fellowships for certain programs.
