About Mines
A school devoted to training scientists, engineers and others not only in rigorous science-based academics, but in protective and respectful use of the earth and its resources, Colorado School of Mines is a leader in its field.
Located at the base of the enchanting Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado, Mines’ location provides not only a scenic view, but opportunities for study and research as well.
Programs at the undergraduate level include degrees in Chemical and Biological Engineering, Geochemistry, Environmental Science and Engineering, Geophysics and Mining Engineering.
A major force in its research developments and discoveries, Mines works in collaboration with such entities as the National renewable Energy Laboratory. They also regularly conduct renowned conferences.
The focus of study and research at Mines is in finding positive solutions to sustaining our environment and resources. Graduates, therefore, are not only proficient scholars, but also go on to pioneer solutions in the use of energy and environmental resources.
Admission to Mines is competitive and requires that students exhibit high academic skill through previous GPA, level of courses taken, and SAT or ACT scores. Extracurricular activities, community service and professional involvement are also highly valued.
A select number of scholarships are available to exceptional students. There also other forms of financial aid for those who qualify.
