Everything Announced At BlizzConline Opening Ceremony

Blizzcon 2021 kicks off today – but it’s a Blizzcon unlike never before.

Thanks to the global pandemic, public gatherings aren’t on the cards right now. And so Blizzcon has gone online. Blizzcon 2021 – nicknamed BlizzConline – runs from today, 19th February, until Sunday 21st February. Over the course of the next two days, we can expect a whole host of Blizzard-flavoured fun. There’ll be new announcements on upcoming projects, celebrations on existing games and communities, and more.

If you missed the BlizzConline Opening Ceremony, here’s everything that was announced.

Blizzard Arcade Collection

  • The Lost Vikings, Rock n Roll Racing and BlackThorne – three classic Blizzard games from the early 90s – are getting re-released in a definitive collection. Called the Blizzard Arcade Collection, it’s coming to Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC. If you buy the Blizzard Celebration Collection, you’ll get access to it on PC right away. There’s no console release date yet.

  • The first update to World of Warcraft Shadowlands is ‘Chains of Domination’. We got a very cool cinematic trailer, though not much information just yet; that’s coming later on tonight.
  • New pets are coming to WoW via a charity pet programme. Bananas the Monkey, who was first available during the Burning Crusade era, will be available to everyone who makes a donation if the goal is reached. If the stretch goal is reached, everyone will receive the adorable-looking Daisy the Sloth. All money will be going to Doctors Without Borders.
  • Burning Crusade is coming to World of Warcraft Classic. There’s no set release date yet, but it’s coming at some point in 2021. It’ll be available to subscribers at no extra cost.

  • Hearthstone welcomes the ‘Year of the Gryphon’. New cards will be coming to the game, including a new core set designed to shake up gameplay.
  • A brand new format is coming to Hearthstone – Classic Format – allowing players to play the game exactly how it was at launch.
  • The first expansion for Hearthstone in 2021 is Forged in the Barrens, based on the World of Warcraft location of the same name.
  • Later this year, players will also get to enjoy Hearthstone Mercenaries, an all new gameplay mode that can be played solo or competitively. In it, players will collect characters from across the Warcraft universe and level them up in battle.

  • A new character class has been revealed for Diablo IV: the Rogue. It’s a reimagining of one of Diablo’s earliest characters. They’re designed to be fast and deadly, equipped with a variety of ways to take down their enemies.
  • You’ll be able to customise the look and play style of your character, too.
  • We got a glimpse of Rogue gameplay for Diablo IV and boy, does it look nice. Obviously, we still have no release date – but there’ll be plenty more information coming up later during BlizzConline. We’ll have more information here, too.
  • It’s been long-rumoured, and it’s finally been announced: Diablo II Resurrected is coming to PC and consoles – including next-gen versions – later this year. There’ll be a public testing on PC soon, which you can sign up for here.
