How to Take Care of your Skin in Summers - Causes of Skin Cancer - How to Keep Your Skin Healthy | How to - How to SolutionsSkin, the outer most layer of our body which comes in contact with the harshness of different weathers is actually the most neglected. While we make sure to take care of the face and neck and some times the hands we rarely pay attention to the other parts. Skin needs special treatment and pampering specially during extreme weather conditions winters and summers.

In winters we are covered all over and not much of our skin is exposed where as in summers we go for short sleeveless dresses, swim wear etc. It would be appropriate to say we are minimally covered. According to experts’ maximum sun damage about 80% happens in summer months.

Suns rays are good for us as they help the body in processing Vitamin D, so we have heard many times but during summers UV rays can be very bad for the exposed skin. According to studies prolonged exposure can be a cause of skin cancer, cataract apart from premature ageing, dryness, and age spots. So the best thing to do is block these harmful rays. Try that the skin exposed to the sun is minimum also if possible avoid stepping out when the sun is the brightest say 11am to 4 pm.

Sunscreens are a must when going out; apply it on every part of the body that is exposed not just on the face and neck. Make sure you keep applying it again spending on the SPF. Try using the water resistant one so that sweat or water does not wash it off.

Use the sunscreen on lips too or go for lip balm with SPF. Apart from the regular washing and scrubbing the skin make sure to keep it hydrated with suitable moisturizers and lotions.

It is wise to invest in accessories like hats and sunglasses in summers which protect you further from the suns rays. Babies should not be exposed to sun at all; children when going out should be covered adequately wearing hats or caps and wear sunscreen available for them.

In summers we sweat a lot therefore it is very important to drink lots of water or other fluids like juices and eat healthy as the skin reflects what you eat.

Extra attention to the skin will go a long way in keeping the skin healthy and nourished not only in summers but all year round.
