Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda is an unbelievably vibrant nature reserve which amazed the likes of Sir Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt and Sir Ernest Hemingway. Uganda Murchison Falls National Park, a 3900 square kilometer expanse of Murchison protected area, is bisected by river Nile at Albertine Rift Valley. At Murchison, river Nile plunges nearly 43 meters and thereafter it broadens and flows into Lake Albert about 55 kilometers away. Among the biggest national parks of Uganda, Murchison is a heaven for wild life lovers.

Elephant, giraffe and buffalo are widely visible. Lions though sparsely sighted before 1980’s are noticeably visible. All these animals primarily inhabit the northern side of Nile river which has a thick coverage of ‘borassus’ grass. The southeastern area is occupied by Rabongo Forest famous for its chimpanzees and smaller animals. The Nile waters abound in hippopotamus and crocodile.

Murchison Falls experiences warm climate throughout the year with June-July and December – February the hottest months. Rains are mostly experienced in November and April. This tropical paradise is open all year round for eager visitors. This Uganda fall is accessible from Massindi which is about 90 kilometers away. You need to proceed to Massindi town by road from Kampala.
