During pregnancy, most of the women put on around 10-20 kgs on an average. Although putting on is a cakewalk; however the real pain comes when you have to shed off those extra kilos. It is very difficult to go on a diet or start exercising immediately after delivery. This is mainly because you are very weak after the delivery especially if it is a c-section. Thus wait for couple of months before you actually go on a diet. However, please note that shedding off the extra calories that you had put on during pregnancy is going to be difficult as you are physically and mentally exhausted in post pregnancy period. Thus you need to be patient and remember that it took 9 months for you to put on that weight, atleast give your body that much time to reduce the weight.

Following are the tips to shed the post pregnancy weight:

Choose the foods that are extremely high in nutritional value and less in fats and carbs. You cannot stop eating completely, as you might be still breastfeeding your child.

Eat small mini meals in a day. Eating 4-5 mini meals in a day is an all time proven method of weight loss. This method prevents you from getting hungry too often, which more often than not leads to overeating.

Drink buckets of water. Drinking water is always considered to be healthy as it washes away all the toxins from your body and in a way cleanses your body.

You need loads of water as breastfeeding leaves you completely dehydrated. Intake of lots of water will result in to boosting your metabolism and lowering your appetite. You can also replace all your sugary drinks and beverages with water and thereby reducing those extra calories.

Have healthy snacks and stay away from junk food. As far as possible have snacks like raisins, popcorn, salads, sprouts, seamed corn which are all considered to be healthy and fat free. As far as possible stay away from all kinds of junk food.

Last but not the least continue breastfeeding your baby. Breastfeeding helps you knock off around 500 calories per day. So remember as long as you breastfeed, it is healthier not only for your baby but also for you.
