Scotland is one of those rare tourist destinations which offer everything including ruins, castles, museums, battlegrounds and remains of stones from the Iron Age and the Stone Age to its visitors. The country promises, natural habitats, wildlife and adventure all at the same time. With England as its neighbor, this country is the home for the Scotland Yard Police. Majority of the tourists are from the United Kingdom while a small percentage of them come from United States, Germany, Canada, Australia, and France and of course from all over the world. The five major airports of the country are: Edinburgh, Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwich. The island can also be reached by a ferry.

The island of Scotland is famous for its annual festivals. The Glasgow Jazz Festival hosts the best in the music world from all over the world. The Scotland’s Great Maritime Heritage highlights the traditional boats and workshops on the art and tradition of boat-building. The Edinburgh Film Festival is the longest film festival in the world. The Homecoming Year Festival is the most famous one where Scotland extends invitations to the people at home and abroad to reconnect.

The National Museum of Scotland is dedicated to the historical roots, culture and people of Scotland. Some exhibits in the building have references to Scottish geology. The people come to see their family tree and trace their roots. The Summerlee Industrial Heritage Museum speaks of Scotland’s industrial past and the Industrial Revolution from the period 1800 to 1960. It even has things like wartime dresses and wedding clothes of the revolution period around the 1920’s.The Culloden Battlefield Centre situated in the village of Culloden is a huge tourist attraction. The house of late national poet Robert Burns is also a “must-see”.

The Cairngorms National Park is full of flora and fauna and pine forest and rivers. The view of the snow clad mountains is simply breathtaking. Open canoeing on the river Tay is the best thing for an adventurous water sport lover. Sea Kayaking on the west coast of Scotland is designed for those who wish to paddle in open water of lakes, bays and oceans.
