The main entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is located on the Highway 441 in Gatlinburg. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited park in the country and spread over 816 square miles.  The park is visited by over 11 million visitors every year and is famous for its remarkable landscape, flora and fauna.

Park supports an array of wildlife including 66 mammal species, 200 bird species, 39 reptile species, 50 fish species and 43 amphibian species. The park is famous for its black bear population and has over 1800 bears. Visitors to the park can also indulge in activities like hiking, fishing, horseback riding, water tubing and bicycling.

Ober Gatlinburg is the famous ski area and amusement park located on the slopes overlooking Gatlinburg. Visitors can reach the resort by taking an aerial tram from downtown Gatlinburg.

The amusement park consists of an indoor ice skating rink, miniature golf course, black bear habitat, alpine slide, water rides, shooting range, video arcade and an outdoor maze. The ski resort has three chairlifts, nine skiing trails and a ski school.

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is the best family entertainment attraction in Gatlinburg and has a wide range of exhibits including planet Mars, pirates and Titanic.

The aquarium is full of life and has over ten thousand exotic sea creatures like 12 foot sharks, pacific giant octopus, African black footed penguins, sea anemones, jelly fish, living corals, stingrays, spotted garden eel, scorpion fish, flounder, leopard sharks and hammerhead sharks, to name a few. Guests at the park can walk through under water tunnels and enjoy enthralling views of the marine life at the aquarium.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum displays five hundred bizarre and strange artifacts in a three storey building. Some of the eye-catching artifacts at the museum include shrunken human head, two head calf and eight legged buffalo.

The Gatlinburg Space Needle is an observation tower in the heart of Gatlinburg and has a height of 407 feet. Visitors can take a glass elevator ride to reach the observation deck.  The observation deck on top of the tower offers 360 degrees panoramic views of the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains and Gatliburg.

Flying Saucer Italian Bistro is one of the best Italian restaurants in Gatlinburg and located at the base of Space Needle. Next to the Space Needle is Arcadia, a twenty five thousand square foot two level family amusement attraction. Arcadia features Lazer Runner, OH Zone, Hypnotized Theater, Hurricane Simulator and Zeke’s Shack.

Gatlinburg is home to the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community and has over 100 craftsmen, the largest in North America. Visitors can find artworks, crafts, paintings, pottery, treasures and also get to watch craftsmen, potters and painters at work.
