Underwater World, Singapore

By

Underwater World Singapore is located on the Sentosa Island and houses about 2500 marine life from 250 different species.  The place is popular with adults and children alike as it provides entertainment and education at the same place. The place is also committed to the breeding and conservation of marine life and is also an active participant in many of the environmental projects. The whole oceanarium is underground and the park ticket also includes the charges for admission into Dolphin Lagoon at Palawan Beach.Underwater World, Singapore

The park is well known for its 83 m travelator the helps the visitors to move along a submerged 6 mm thick acrylic windowed tunnel. From here the visitors can get a good view of the marine life including coral reefs, stingrays, moray eels, turtles and sharks.

The Dolphin Lagoon is the home of Indo – Pacific Humpback dolphins otherwise known as the pink dolphins. There are also a number of ‘Meet – Dolphins’ sessions that are held every day and the visitors are allowed to enter the waist deep pool and interact with the dolphins from a close range. The admission ticket, however, does not include the price for the ‘Meet – the – Dolphins’ sessions.

There many adventures lined up by the Underwater World and the Dolphin Lagoon for the visitors and these are

1)    Marine Discovery
2)    Dive with the Sharks
3)    Dive with Dugong
4)    Dive with Sharks and Dugong
5)    Swim with the Dolphins

The Underwater World has received special recognition all over as it is the Asia’s largest Oceanarium. The thrill and excitement that this park provides is totally incomparable. There are many detractors who feel that Ocean Park in Hong Kong is a better choice than this one but one must admit that you are tempted to come to Underwater World because of the large scale operations and both the parks have two distinct flavors.

So it is hard and unfair to say that one park is better than the other. Both are world class oceanariums and I recommend visiting both of them. Since the Underwater World is located on Sentosa, you can actually visit this place on the same date on which you are making your trip to the island.
